Soaking at Parramatta Park

I was really looking forward to the following program that the SSO were going to put on tonight, like a pre-birthday treat, not that I actually care about birthdays!

Parramatta Park
Sydney Symphony
7.30 PM Saturday 14 March 2009, Crescent amphitheatre, Parramatta Park

Sydney Symphony
Ben Northey conductor
Sun Yi violin

VINE V – An Orchestral Fanfare
SMETANA Vltava (The Moldau)
DELIUS The Walk to the Paradise Garden
SAINT-SAËNS Introduction and Rondo capriccioso
RAVEL Mother Goose: The Enchanted Garden
BORODIN In the Steppes of Central Asia
STRAVINSKY The Firebird: Suite

And look, there was even free parking next to the pool carpark!

But only minutes to 7:30pm (yes this person was actually on time *excited*) it started to rain, gently at first, then unceasing!

After the Park's head and then our current Premier, Nathan Rees, spoke, the orchestra started to tune up, however that's when the wind started hoisting the rain onto the stage.

It was actually very funny being in this situation as a "hardcore" music lover surrounded by other hardcores, preparing to listen to our top musical craftsmen and women and be driven away. But it took half an hour of utter drenching to do it!

The first song some of the brass musicians played sounds like something we've done at the GKs - I wonder what song it was... it was just done for us, the audience, so that was nice :)
